How do Plastic Gift Cards Work?

Boutique Gift Cards are exactly the same thickness as the Gift Card you see in all the major retailers and the Post Office. Our Gift Cards are customised to your front desk and Point-of-Sale procedures whether computerised or manually operated. We have sourced two techniques for ‘boutique style’ businesses when it comes to managing plastic cards:


1. A large transparent writing panel on the back of the Gift Card, allowing you to write the Gift Card details.
2. A printed barcode on the back of the plastic Gift Card, allowing your computer’s software to track the dollar 3. amount until fully redeemed.

How will I be able to track my new Boutique Gift Cards?

There are four ways to track your plastic Boutique Gift Cards. Depending on your software, we will help you choose from:

  1. 1. Sequential Numbering
  2. 2. Barcoding
  3. 3. Magnetic Strip
  4. 4. (If your are not computerised) write a number manually onto each Gift Card.

Does colour change when printing on a plastic surface as opposed to paper?
Yes, colour can change. It is very difficult to get an exact match to your brand’s colours when printing on plastic as opposed to paper. Whilst all care is taken and we specialise in this particular area, please be aware colour variation will occur on different surfaces. A close match is achievable however; many colours such as green, purple, brown and orange are quite difficult to match when printing on plastic and paper. Customers must provide PMS colour numbers and CMYK colour breakdowns to match as close as possible.

It varies depending on the products you have ordered. However our approximate guidelines are:
